Understanding my next steps

Development:
I have been reflecting on the Wells Cathedral show and exploring new directions that my work can travel. The starlings that migrate to and from Eastern Europe every year are welcomed and applauded on their arrival here, unlike many human migrants who cross the same borders.
Community:
I have been part of an online course run by the Contemporary Art Academy, PG-01. The tutor, Sam Jackson and the other amazing artists I have met there are inspirational and it’s very supportive and great for my development. I planned my new work to operate in a wooden life size bird hide and they helped me explore how to include the political message with the examples of real graffiti.
New Project:
This piece addresses the conflict of how we deal with the arrival of migrants to our country while contrasting sanctuary for the birds and humans. The bird hide is constructed flat pack in smaller sections and bolted together on site. It can be placed indoors or out, a single power source is required currently but a solar powered version is certainly an option. The music and birdsong is run through quite small speakers which are concealed within the installation.
